“The Bikers Anthem” on Goin’ Back Home, vol. 6

Filed under: General — Steve @ 6:49 am

Steve’s 1986 penned “The Bikers Anthem” is included on the new “Goin’ Back Home’  CD compilation, released by Quickstar Productions.  There’s a looonnnnnngggg story about this song, best told with an icy cold beer.  This is the first time that all 4 verses have been presented in recorded form to the public.  Included is the infamous and fun “riceburner” verse, the original verse that was left off of the version on the 1st release on 45 rpm vinyl record, and replaced with a more politically correct verse at the request of the motor company’s executives.  The complete version of “The Bikers Anthem” is a guitar, banjo, and fiddle based production, with Steve playing his Martin D-28 and Deanie Richardson on fiddle, and with Rick Otts on banjo.  The tune was recorded at Rick’s studio in Hendersonville, TN.

There are 24 Bluegrass artists on the CD with songs varied from novelty, sing along, fine instrumentals, and, of course, story songs.

The CD is available at www.quickstarproductions.comевтини мебели and the major music and download sites.  Steve has a few copies to sell for $10, plus $3 shipping.

House Concerts - You & Me

Filed under: General — Steve @ 1:34 pm

Hi from Nashville,

You may not know that some of my favorite shows are house concerts.  Up close, living room performances in the homes of people who enjoy live music without all the typical distractions.  What you might not know is that these events are popping up all over the world.

The pool parties and back yard pickin’ shows I’ve done over the years are great, but house concerts are more intimate and really showcase what I can do.  For my concerts, I do a mix of mostly originals with some of my most favorite songs done “my way”. :)

I’m a serious performer who likes to showcase my songs up close and personal, and the house concert is very satisfying for me and the audience.  For those who care about such things, it’s an opportunity to hear my amazing Martin guitar up close. :)

If you’re interested in house concerts, and would like to see one before trying it, there’s a great site where you can find house concert listings in your state/province, and email the hosts for an invitation.  These are generally super-friendly people who love to see a few new faces at their events.  I really hope you’ll visit the site and attend a show… these events are usually fantastic, and very inspiring. If you have questions… let me know!  I would LOVE to play for you and your friends.

Nashville Songwriters Festival on Music Row

Filed under: General — Steve @ 8:49 am

Hey there fellow songwriters!
We have a really cool event on June 20-22nd centered around the main stage in the Curb Records parking lot on Music Row. This is the 6th year for the Festival and everyone, all genres, are welcome to perform and hang out. There are excellent seminars with Nashville pros involved in all facets of the music industry.
There’s no fee, but donations are encouraged to help fund the fest.
I’m a volunteer and will be there on Friday and Sunday, helping with the seminars and anything that needs done.
Check out www.songwritersfestival.com for information about registration, performances, who’s already in, the seminar topics and schedule.
Over 350 songwriters performed among the 4 stages last year. This is a great opportunity for those who can make it.
If you have any questions for me send an e-mail to songwritersfestival@comcast.net
Thanks
