The New Anthem Band Roster

Filed under: General — Steve @ 9:21 pm

I’m proud to be working with these fine musicians for the show at The Rutledge on February 5th:

Rebecca Baumbach - Fiddle

Caleb Mundy - Upright Bass

Bob Grant - Mandolin

Rick Otts - Banjo

I appreciate the talent and time the band members have given to practice and get ready for next Monday night.

Lisa Aguilar will also be on-board with her most excellent vocal talents.  Her singing with me is a real treat!

Thanks to everyone who has contacted me with good words on the biker song.  It’s really great to connect with so many people with a song!

The band is rehearsing and getting ready for the Monday night show at The Rutledge with Joie Scott and Electric Wine-Sky.  We’ll have a new song for this show.

Stay Warm, Take Care

The Bikers Anthem
Words & Music by:  Steve Stern
®1988

Verse 1
Let’s talk about speed, let’s talk about the Lord, let’s talk about American Steel
Let’s talk about the people who are riding their machines, who are living each day to feel
The wind in their face, the Sun beating down, the power seeming to explode
Let’s sing a song for Harley people, when we ride we rule the road.

Chorus 1
So let’s sing a song for brothers on Harleys, riding on American roads
We’re riding on tradition, maybe riding to perdition, and we’re carrying a heavy load
These bikes that we ride are displaying such pride, we’re symbols of the land of the free
So let’s sing a song for Harley people from sea to shining sea.

Verse 2
You’re cruising down the road and you’re feeling mighty good to be riding on your Harley bike
And the people in their cars they’re looking at you and, well, they wonder what it must be like
To wear the leather and gear, to ride into the night, to command that big old steed
They shake their heads and wish you well, as you pass they say “Godspeed”.

Chorus 2
So let’s say a prayer for brothers on Harleys, riding on American roads
We’re riding on tradition, maybe riding to perdition, and we’re carrying a heavy load
These bikes that we ride are displaying such pride, we’re symbols of the land of the free
So let’s say a prayer for Harley people from sea to shining sea.

Verse 3
We’ve ridden our Harleys all around the world, from Alabama through the forests of Rangoon
And you know wherever Ole Glory’s been unfurled you can sing this Harley tune
So ride safe, brothers and sisters, ride free, stick around cause someday soon
With luck’s good grace we’ll launch a Hog into space, one day we’ll ride Harleys on the Moon.

Verse 4
You want to buy a bike so you cruise to the showroom to see what you can see
There’s a Harley in the corner and it catches your eye, it’s what a real man’s bike should be
So you find Mr. Salesman, you point out the Hog, and you ask him for his very best price
He says “Son, this here’s my bottom line, pay up or you’ll be burning rice”.

Chorus 3
So let’s give a yell for brothers on Harleys, riding on American roads
We’re riding on tradition, maybe riding to perdition, and we’re carrying a heavy load
These bikes that we ride are displaying such pride, we’re symbols of the land of the free
So let’s give a yell for Harley people from sea to shining sea.

So let’s give a yell for Harley people, we’re as wild as we can, loud as we can, proud as we can be!

February 5th Gig at The Rutledge in Downtown Nashville

Filed under: Gigs — Steve @ 8:57 am

Once again, Happy New Year!  For those of you checking in about the new version of the Biker’s Anthem, it’s almost fully cooked and ready to serve.  We mixed it and had a lot of fun with the “crowd” involved in the performance, and should have it mastered and on the way to the Webmaster tomorrow.  I’ll post the link and lyrics as soon as the link is working.  Jason Clark, a great friend and part of my “dream team” of professionals who help me do the things I do, is the Webmaster and I want to thank him, once again, for all his good work!

We have a New Anthem Band gig set up for February 5th @ 7:30 PM at The Rutledge, a great bar, eatery, and showcase in the middle of downtown Nashville.  We are the 2nd act of the evening, opening for Electric Wine-Sky, and we go on around 8 PM.  Songwriter Joie Scott opens the show with songs that have been cut by Shania Twain, Collin Raye, Peabo Bryson.  Electric Wine-Sky features Ross Wine-Sky and he has great talent and credentials, with smokin’ musicians, and with a really good following, too.  So, we should have the place shakin’ :)  Doors open at 7 PM and there’s a $5 cover charge.  The Rutledge has great food and a full bar and the address is 410 4th Av. S and the phone number is 615-782-6858.

Check out http://www.wine-sky.com for info on Ross, MP3 song downloads, and what he’s up to.

It’s a Monday night, so this will kick off your weekend a little early :)

We’re going to have a good time, so please make plans to join us.

Back to the biker song ………  :)
